Life's getting more stressful each day... I've dateline every other day... My F***ing bitchy manager giving me ridiculous task and dateline everyday. My face is atrious, big fat pimples all over my forehead...I haven't been sleeping well, will always wake up in the middle of the night, and thats it! I can't fall asleep. Will be left staring at the ceiling for the next few hrs. And when my eyes are finally tired, its time to go for work...

These days I dreed going to work. Franking speaking, I think I've lost my interest in my job. Everyday I get people asking me "Clariss, are you ok? You dun look well" "I'm fine, thank you" is always my answer. I know everyone is concerned, but hey when I tell you I'm ok, juz take it. Stop porbing hoping to fish out anything. Quit being a bitch! Its very fustrating when you have to repeat the answer over and over again to the same person everyday. These people are driving my nuts. Yes I appreciate your concern. But why can't u understand that by leaving me to be alone, after a while I'll be alright. Dun you know that when one is vexed, the more you probe the more vexed he gets...And for goodness, when you are the one giving me problem, stop showing ur fake concern to me, trying showing me THE caring boss act. It juz get me sick n tired and I'll start puking! If everyone else share the same sentiments as me, the problem is not us its you! I wonder when you start to realize the reality?! Stop saying that "If you dun understand what I meant, you should ask me" Coz I've tried that and you always change your idea every single day! Stop being flickle-minded! Ass-hole!

2046

Took mc 2day. Didn't go to work. I guess I didn't sleep well last night.

I went to have my hair cut before meeting Michelle to watch wong Kai Wai's 2046.

I had high expectation for this much-awaited movie since there was so much hype on it.

Well, I should say I loved the pictures and the wasy it was shoot. The picture was definetly better than In the Mood of Love. However, the plot was too abstract. OVer dose of Wong Kai Wai. you must be a true Wong Kai Wai fan in order to understand this movie.

2046 is a spin-off from his two previous work - In the mood of Love and Days of Being Wild. The Character played by Carnia Lau and Zhang Zhen was from Days of Being Wild. While Zhou Mu Yun, played by Tony Leung was a continual character from In the Mood of Love. It protray how human are constantly seeking for love. The character Zhou Mu Yun totally protray how men doesn't have the guts to faced his love. The lines by all the characters are simple yet it brings out the agony faced by human beings who are being traumatized by love.

I love the robot character played by Faye Wong. Her body language was superb! Guess she will win the Best Female Lead. I personally don't think Tony Leung have much hope for the Best Male Lead. Though its one of his most satisfied character played so far, but I still think something is missing. Perhaps too much media attention is being placed on the development of the character to the extend where I feel that it has lost its unique touch or x factor.

I'll give 4/5 stars for picture and 3 star for story plot.

Today is my last day in Bangkok.

We had American Breakfast in the hotel before heading off fro some last min shopping. We went to Pratunam and Mah Boon Khoong. Managed to buy some more gifts for everybody.

the group went for some Traditional Thai Massage. I opted for the Full body Massage while the rest went fro the foot, shoulder and head massage. It was very relaxing and I fell asleep. Thai Massage is more of pressing and stretching. Very different from Swedish or Balinese Massage. Before we head back to the hotel, I managed to savour another plate of Fried Oyster. I know I'll missed them when I'm back in Singapore.

We went back to the hotel at about 4 plus to pack everything into our luggage. I had 1 full backpack, 1 hang carry (my gym bag) and a plastic bag full of tibits. Mine is still manageable. The rest of them, they had a least 4-5 luggage. Our total checked in luggage was 88kgs. If we group checked in, we were only allowed 90kgs. The rest of the stuff, they didn't managed to pack it in, thus all had to be hand carried. I guessed the massage earlier was of not much help, all went down the drain as now I've to be the coolie and help the rest of them carry their baggage *shake head* What have got myself into???

Our flight was scheduled to be 8:15pm. All of us managed to grab something to eat before boarding the plane. The flight wasn't fully occupied. only about 1/3 full. Anyway, there was this charming guy seating in the same row as me, but was on the other section. He was very tall, at least 1.85 i suppose. spiky hair, sharp nose, the very clean and neat look that I liked. He was alone, nobody was with him. Nah... didn't plan to approach him, or I should say I didn't have the guts to do it. Plus, I haven't got over the previous one.... anyway I was attacked my Z-monster, so I dooze off not long.

The flight touch down safely at about 11:50pm. we head straight to the Duty Free store to get some liquor and beer. I took a cab home. Kor and Ma was waiting for me, I showed ma the end result of my shopping spree, she didn't comeneted much. Juz say that it was very unlike of me to buy so little stuff which I totally agreed with her.

I guess this trip, was more of an intention to get away from all the unhappy stuff which I'm experiencing lately. My intention was to relax and went for some sightseeing. Sadly it wasn't achieved. Nevertheless, being able to get outta the country is better than staying at home...what more can I ask for? I guess I'm more inclined to those beach holiday where you do nothing but juz rot your life away. O0r those where you get to visit the famous places in the world. My whole 5D4N Bangkok trip is juz to shop and eat my life away, the part that I enjoyed the most is the 1/2 tour that we went. Though tiring, but I did managed to grab a lot of cheap and nice clothes back. I guess I wouldn't be shopping in Far East of bugis fro quite some time to think that they got their stuff from Bangkok and mark up the price to 300-400% One the whole, I did enjoyed myself....

Today, we went to Pratunam, 10mins walk from Asia Hotel. Its a openair wholesale market. As we were walking around I realize that the clothes theres were very much similar to those we have in Far East and Bugis Village. However, the price is so much cheaper. 1 skirt is only SG 4-5bucks. I bought a lot of bottoms. The tops and tees there are very nice but they were all mirco-mini. The large size is equivilant to our small or medium size which I can't squeeze in.

We went to Suhkumvit for lunch. Theres this Japanese Restaurant at Suhkumvit Thonglor 55 named Oyishi where they served good Japanese food. We had theri buffet lunch. Well, I partically wacked the whole sushi and sashimi bar. The yakkitori and Tepanyakki was also very good. I totally lost control over the sashimi and they are very fresh....

We went back to the hotel to freshen up before heading down to Suan Lum Market again. Since, we were there once, this time round, we concentrate on the things we want to buy and head straight the the store, no more see see look look strategy. Managed to buy quite a number a tees for my friends.

We settled our dinner at one of the Thai Chinese Restaurant located right outside market. The Crab Tanghoon was great. We also ordered Tom Yam soup. It wasn't very good but the seafood was very fresh and juicy especially the flower crab. I realize that the Thai like to use flower crab for their dishes

After dinner, we decided to head down to the Thailand famous red-light district - Patpong. Wow! I must say the transvestite were very beautiful. The guys there have very good complextion, very fair and boyish look. When they smile, they look charming. Too bad they are in the line so, cannot be fool by them. As we walk along the street, we were constantly approach by the pimps to go into the bar to watch the "shows" Some of the door were not fully closed, thus I managed to catch a few glimpse of Bar top dancing and tiger show. It was indeed an eye opening experience.

As we were about to make our way back to the hotel, we stop by a road side stall and tried some of the deep fried grasshoppers and beatles. Only Nancy and I got the guts to try. The grasshoppers were very tasty, like crackers. As for the beatles, they were very gigantic, so I didn't try them. If only, they have baby ones. The rest of the girls were so disgusted by me as I kept asking for more grasshoppers. Its really very nice....

Today, we join a half-day tour to the Traditional Floating Market. Its located at the outskit of Bangkok. It was a long drive thus, all of us have to wake up pretty early. The coach came to pick us up at about 6:30am.

The first stop was to the coconut plantation to see the variety of product you can get from 1 single coconut. In Bangkok, you can find coconut everywhere. Its also a source of income for them. I bought some coconut sugar for mama so that she can make her well known kuei kosui.

Next stop, was to the floating market. It was a 20 mins drive from teh coconut plantation. Once we were there, we had to take a 15min long tail boat ride. You can find a lot of houses along the river, even provision shop and cafe. You will n otice that all of these houses are facing the river as their daily life depend very much on it. Washing, bathing, drinking, etc. So you can imagine how "clean" the water in the river is.... We finally reached the famous floating market. The 6 of us hopped on to one of the boat to experience the true sell-buy of the market. the boatman manuvour thru the river like a pro. i didn't buy anything except a coconut to quench my thrist. Well, there variety of stuff wasn't very atractive...

Our next stop was to the traditional wood carving factory. These Thais are very skillful. There was this guy who carve a 3D wood piece with trees and apes. Every single detail of the tree and the apes was paid attention to. The wood piece was very majestic and eye-opening...

Following which, we head back to the hotel. The journey took about 1 1/2 hrs to cross the river. The secenery along the river was very calm n nice. But I dooze off not long after... By the time we reached the hotel, it was 2pm. We quickly went to the near-by eating place for lunch.

After that, we took a cab to Central Shoppping Mall to meet up with Poh Lay's sister and sis-in-law. Well, the whole cab waiting was quite upset. One of the cab driver who was "stationed" outside the hotel tried to be helpful to bring us there. As we do not know the exact location of the Shopping Mall, we had a hard time trying to tell the driver where we are going as we can't really pronounce the street name. Poh Lay sis-in-law spoke to the driver over the phone and told him the place. After they hung up, the driver said that the place was very far and it was about 1 hr ride. Ridiculars! We were told by the sister that, it will only take 20mins max to go from our hotel to the mall. We then realize that the driver was a crook so we quickly went back to the hotel lobby and get the staff there to help us.

Luckily, we reached the mall safely. I went to the salon to highlight my hair while the est continued their shopping spree. We met up again about an hr ltr. The sister brought us to these Teochew Chinese/Thai Roadside eating joint for dinner. We order quite a number a dishes. All were delicious esp the Flower Crab Steaboat. The soup was superb!

After dinner, we went to the local Masa Malam where the Thai teenage fequesnt. Its something like Bugis Village. Each shop is about 3x3sqm and there are a least 3000 to 4000 of them there. Over there, the stuff is dirt cheap, we dun really need to bargain. If you are lucky, you will get about max 10-30 bhat cheaper. I bought a few tees for kor, and shorts for kor and papa.

The last stop was to Chinatown for some bird nest soup for supper. We order the 3rd grade for about 300 bhat each. Its bird nest with ginko nut and rock sugar. Very refreshing but its quite sweet. Actually to the Thais its considered normal, but to us, its considered sweet. So remember, the next time you order beverage of food in Thailand, must make sure to tell the hawker, you don't want it to be so sweet, if not, sugar rush is unavoidable.

We reach the hotel at about 1am, adn its too slumberland...

Saturday, October 09, 2004

We stared the day at 8 am. As our hotel deal didn't include breakfast, so we had to settle our own breakfast. We walked around the neighborhood and finally found this roadside stall selling you zha kwei. It was very crispy and nice. Its not the usual longish one we find in Singapore. The ones on Singapore is about 1/3 of it. The young lady converse to us in mandarin. Amazing! She said that they open the stall at 5 in the morning! Dun be surprise coz in Thailand, hawkers start their day early to avoid the heat in the late morning. Open in 5am *evil grin* thinking of tomorrow's breakfast.

After breakfast, we made our way to Chap Tut Chap. Its very hugh, about 40hec. in area. You can find all sort of things there. Price is still reasonable. I bought surf shorts, skirts and a watch. My oh my! The weather is a killer. The crowd made things worse. I was constantly searching for mineral water. Notice that I mention mineral water? Yes, the water in Thailand is not suitable for consumption. Actually, it can be consume, but I guessed Singaporeans are too kiasee so we are told to only take mineral water. Thank God that I heed my cousins' advice, wear minimum. My whole tank top was soaked wet with my perspiration. We spilt up into 2 groups, Roanna, Stephanie and Poh Lay one group, while Nicole, Nancy and myself another group. After the Chap Tut Cha, pwe proceed to Thailand Cultural Center for lunch.

Once we reach there, we went to Robinson for lunch, again we had to purchase coupons before we can purchase the food. We ordered a few dishes to share. This foodcourt is not very foreigners-prone coz all the food listed on the menu is in Thai which we dun understand at all. Nicole and I were asking each other which stall sell tom yam soup. One of the local overheard our conversation and help us. He spoke pretty good mandarin. Help us ordered what we wanted, very nice of him. Actually the Thai are a friend group of people. Even when they dun understand you, they will flash their colegate teeth and nod. It can be quite frustrating sometimes because when you thought that they got wat you meant, but in actual fact they dun. But I guess that's their culture to be friendly and polite. Oh ya, did I mentioned that they are very soft-spoken?

After lunch, we continued to shop. Went to Carrefour to buy some tom yam, green curry paste. After which, we head down to Robinson. As we were approaching, we saw this mini bike race for kids. All the kids were dressed like a pro racer. Very cute. We stood there to watched for while before heading in to Robinson. We were quite a few mens top. Actually to find a decent and nice mens top, you have to go to departmental stores, those weekend market and roadside store, you can't find anything nice. We also bought a lot of lingerie. Can you imagine in all we spent about 20,000 baht juz on lingerie, which is equivalent S$800+ Scary! All the bras and undies are dirt-cheap. I'm still the sensible one, only bought 2 bras and 5 undies. Oh which, only 2 were mine. So imagine the bras and undies the rest of them bought... I wonder how they pack their luggage...

Following the lingerie shopping, we walked down to the nearby hotel foe its well known Teochew Porridge Buffet. I was starve! Imagine the number of shopping bags I have to carry for the rest of them?! Shake head... we made our way back our hotel to put our stuff before heading out again for shopping... We went to the Suan Lum Market at Lumphini. Its sortta similar as Chap Tut Chap but its much cleaner and organized. We continued buying and bargaining before we drop dead at the roadside cafe before making our way back. Had a quick shower and sunk into my bed. I fell asleep before I know it, by the time I opened my eyes its already 7 am I guess Roannas snore didnt have any effect on me.

Arrive at the airport at 11am to check in. Went for a light snacks. The six of us is taking Budget airline Tiger Airway. Its actually very cheap. Round trip inclusive of tax is about $199 per person. Well, my cousin-in-law, Roanna, and her friends got it at a even cheaper price - $40 per ticket. Can you imagine that?! I saw Lawrence in the airport. He was on shift, so he checked my passport. He look kinda of funny, maybe its due to the hair.

*Law, if you are reading this, time to cut your hair. U dun suit long hair especially in uniform*

Since its a budget airline so theres no seat allocation. Its on first-come-first-serve basis. But to make things better, they let the passengers into the aircraft by batches. Since we were super kiasu, we were the first 10 to board the plane.

There were 6 seats per row. 3 on the right and 3 on the left. There isnt any television or radio. Not much leg space too. I mean for ladies is still ok, but for guys, it might be a little cramp. As the aircraft is small, we actually experience quite fair bit of turbulence. But I guess if Im not wrong, turbulence depends very much on route the aircraft is taking and also weather. Perhaps the aircraft is small, thus the impact is greater. We were not served any drink or food. We need to purchase from the flight attendants. Well, I should say the price is reasonable. Of coz, you cant compare to the 7-eleven pricing. On the whole, it was a smooth ride; we take off and land safely. No delay in flight at all. It was very prompt.

We touch down in Bangkok International Airport at 3:30pm (Thailand Time). We arranged for the hotel transfer, so the hotel suppose to pick us up from the airport. But the driver made a big boo-boo. He was waiting for us at Terminal 1 while we were at Terminal 2. So we wasted half an hour playing hide-and-seek. Finally, we saw the vehicle and off we zoom to the Asia Hotel.

I finally experience the traffic jam in Bangkok. But luckily the driver took the highway,, thus only certain of the journey, we experienced the jam. I should say, its the traffic light that is causing the problem. For the traffic light to change from red to green, it will take at least 5mins.

After a 45mins ride, we finally reach Asia Hotel and checked in to our respective room. After we settle our luggage, we set off to Mah Boon Knoong for our dinner as everyone is starving to death. MBK is two stop from our hotel. So we decided to take the BTS (equivalent to Singapores LRT) In fact, I should say Asia Hotel is very accessible. The BTS is juz right in front of the hotel.

Once we reached MBK, we zoomed to the food court. Their food court is very different from those in Singapore. We need to purchase coupons in order to buy the food. I find it a good system indeed as the hawker need not handle any notes. Very hygienic. I love the fried oyster. Its very different from those we have in Singapore. The Thai fry the eggs separately from the oysters. When you eat the eggs, its like eating potatoes chips. Very crispy. The oysters are gigantic and juicy. The dish also come with bean sprout. They also have very nice pork knuckle.

After topping up our fuel, we started our shopping. Didnt get much stuff, only a pair of addidas 戮 pants for about S$15. Quite a good bargain. After the shopping, we walked down to Hard Rock Caf茅. Wanted to drop by for a drink, but it was jam packed with Ang Mo, so we settled down at this caf茅 joint called Billie Jean Caf茅. That are area around Hard Rock Caf茅 resemble Holland V and Siglap. Theres a lot of caf茅 joint and Irish Pub. I ordered a Iced Latte which suz big time, Theres no espresso taste, only milk. The girls discussed where to go tomorrow and settled at Chap Tut Chap Weekend Market. We then returned back to the hotel to grab some rest.

I shared room with Roanna, which I dragged. Reason being, she snore big time. Youve guessed it! I experienced her choo-choo train throughout the whole night. Damn it. Lucky me, I managed to catch a few hrs of sleep at about 4 plus

Getaway in Bangkok

My flight and hotel has been confirmed. Will be leaving for Bangkok this Friday and returning next Tuesday, 12th Nov. This will be a solely shop, eat, shop, eat, shop, eat and grow fat holiday. The 6 of us, all girls will make sure that we buy the whole of Bangkok back.

We are taking budget airline, Tiger Airways, Round trip tickets inclusive of tax is only $199. Actually this is not the cheapest. One of my cousins got it at $40 per trip (excluding tax). Damn we missed that offer. It was swept away within a few hours. But nevertheless, $199 to Bangkok is a good bargain.

I'm really looking froward to this trip, like a mention a million times before, for all the stress & nonsense from work and home, I desperately need a holiday...

The usual boring Sunday

Woke up at 11 in the morning, acccompany pa, ma and kor to teh temple. Yes..you guys must be wondering what the hell am I doing there, Coz Pa and Ma meeting Auntie in the afternoon, Ma wants the whole family to have lunch together since, Kor's off day is seldom on Sunday.

After lunch, Kor and I went back home to nap, and in the evening, we went to visit granny. We had our dinner there before heading down to Ricky and Daphne place for their house-warming party.

Dap and Rick shifted to Sin Ming Walk, The Gardens. The condo was majestic. Its very European style. Much much more better than the previous place in Newton. The best part is that they are paying much lesser. I guess location really plays a big part.

It was another usual round of booze and pig out session with the usual gang. The party started at 2 in the afternoon, but we were only there at about 8 plus, so most of them left. Only Thomas, Adeline, Eric couple, Alfred and the new gf, and Raymond was there. Raymond look much more radiant than the last time I met him. Guess he has recovered from the break up with Miko. Back to the charming and cheeky Raymond. We really had a great time. Its been a while since the last time we drank.

After the booze and food, we up to their apartment to "view" their love nest. It was very spacious and cosy. Managed to catch the last 15mins of the Man U match. The whole gang got super pissed especially Ray as the match was a draw...must have lost quite a sum of $$$ Serve him right! But only Kor and me were the happy ones around coz Man U sux big time!!! Too much arrogant player around...

Went to watched White Chicks with the village yday.

Its ben a long time since I watched a movie, I can't even remember wats the last title I watched.

Anyway, the movie was damn funny! I can't quit laughing. Its really a booboo of the Hilton Sister. You guys should catch this show.

After of the downs I've been going through this few months, I feel much better, at least I know I still have my laughing nerve intact...
